Cruising Schedule 2008

To all our boating Members:

We are reporting on the various cruises planned for this boating season.

Plan your participation now.

Members who wish to register for any of the cruises, please call our Marina office at

604 868 4275 or email welcome@fcyc.com. The reservations will be passed on to the Staff Captain or to the Member who is in charge of any specific cruise.

1* Rum Raft cruise Jan. 1, 2008

2* Easter-cruise, Gibson’s Marina, March 21-24

3* Sail Past, May 3, 2008

4* Fraser River Cruise, May 17-19, 2008

5* Boat-for-Hope, June 14, 2008

6* Major summer cruise, July 25 thru to August 17, 2008 (Sign-up for a minimum of 14 days)*

Watch for the itinerary in January. We will be starting at Nanaimo (Newcastle Island), down thru Dodd’s Narrows, Butchart Gardens, Port Sidney area, and on down to Victoria, returning home via Sidney Spit, Poets Nook, Port Browning, Winter Cove, etc, etc, to eventually home at F.C.Y.C. I will try to make it interesting for everybody, and those that would like to meet us for a shorter period please let me know on the sign up sheet.

7* Big Brothers and Big Sisters day cruise Snug Cove, Sept. 14, 2008

8* Commodore’s Cruise, Snug Cove October 11 to 13th, 2008

There will be a signup sheet for each cruise. So please, let me know if you are thinking of attending well in advance, so we can book marinas, yacht clubs, tours, etc.

I hope to have a “skippers meeting”, before each cruise to make sure everyone knows the plans. I suggest we go in a Convoy, when we cross the gulf. (for those of us that are not comfortable crossing on their own) We will also have Tide and Current information as well, for those that are not familiar with reading the “Hydrographic” tables.

In conjunction with the Socials committee we are planning a “Dry-land cruise”.  This would include a swap meet, some information booths, possibly, C.C.G. vessel inspections. (They are mandatory this year if you moor your boat at the club) we are hoping to hold this event around the first part of March, in the parking lot, on a Sat. morning. So, gather up all of those things that you don’t use any more, so that the rest of us can maybe, give you a few bucks for them! Watch for more information on this event.
