New Moorage Slips Being Offered at FCYC

As part of the False Creek Yacht Club’s recently approved Westside Dock Replacement Project, the club will be expanding the
westside docks of its False Creek marina and offering up 15 new slips for availability into one of the most attractive and
desirable moorage locations in British Columbia. With occupancy planned for November 2026, the club is now looking to
offer these slips firstly to existing FCYC members up to December 31, 2025, after which time any remaining slips will be
offered up to other boaters outside of the club willing to become FCYC Active Members.

The new slips will be offered under a Long Term Prepaid Moorage Agreement whereby members will pay for 15 years
moorage up front, after which time they will be able to utilize the slip for the full 15 year period, moorage free. Though the
term of the agreement is for 15 years, the agreement can be reassigned to another member through the club, with the
holder receiving back a pre-defined proportionate payout of the unused term, as soon as the agreement is reassigned – so
the term is really as long as the holder wants it to be.

These upfront moorage fee payments will be used to fund the building of brand new Westside docks, so all of the new slips
will be on brand new docks, as well as with a new washroom and laundry facility located at dock level. As part of entering an
Agreement and being an Active Member, the agreement holder will be able to utilize the clubhouse and will be able to be
involved in all club boating and social activities.

Existing members can contact Alex Elson, FCYC’s General Manager to apply for one of the new slips, using the attached Long
Term Prepaid Moorage Application. Member applications from all member classes, Active, Cruising and Social will be
collected and held until December 31, 2025. First thing in January 2026, the Long Term slips will be allocated out firstly
based on the seniority of Active Members, according to Club policy, in a similar manner as is done with regular annual
moorage slips. After all Active Member applications have been considered, Cruising members will be considered, based on
the length of holding their membership and then Social members, by the length of their membership held. All Members will
then be notified of their acceptance within the first week of January 2026. Upon acceptance, the member will have 15 days
to make full payment to the club of the Moorage Fee. A requirement of receiving a new slip is being an Active Member of
the club, which can be applied for as part of accepting the Long Term Moorage slip. New slips will be offered to Existing
Members at the New Slip Moorage Fee schedule attached to this information package. In all cases, the receipt of the
Moorage Fee by the club will constitute final acceptance of the Agreement.

After December 31, 2025, upon signing up all FCYC members that desire to enter into a new slip Long Term Moorage
Agreement, the remaining slips will be offered on a “first come, first served” basis to non-members of the club who will then
need to become Active Members of the club as part of entering into a Long Term Moorage Agreement. Non-members can
also utilize the attached Long Term Moorage Application form to submit their application for one of the New Long Term slips
at FCYC. Upon acceptance, these applicants will also be required to make full payment of the Moorage Fee within 15 days of
acceptance. The process of offering up new slips to non-members and their pricing has not yet been announced and will be
finalized in late December or early 2026. Prices may be increased after December 31, 2025.

On or about the end of February 2026, the club will make a final “Go/No-Go” decision on proceeding with the new Westside
Dock Replacement Project. The criteria for this decision are the obtaining of Long Term Moorage Agreements for an
appropriate number of new slips, as determined at that time, as well as ensuring City approvals and contractual agreements
and approvals have been satisfactorily obtained. As of this time, we are confident both criteria will be met, and we will
proceed with construction. If for some reason a “No-Go” decision is made at that time, all Moorage Fees paid to FCYC will be
promptly returned in full to the holders.

Membership Levels

Active membership is best for you because it immediately locks in your seniority on the moorage waitlist. It’s our premier membership tier and affords all privileges of every membership level, plus voting rights, the opportunity to hold a board position, access to all outstations, and an opportunity for full time moorage or sublease moorage in our False Creek Marina and Bowen Outstation.

Permanent moorage is assigned as it becomes available and is determined via seniority and boat size. FCYC has moorage with a variable wait list depending on size of the boat. Typically boats in the 28-35’ range have been accommodated within 1-3 years while larger sizes take a bit longer.

Sublease moorage is often overlooked as an option but is often available within a short timeframe as our cruisers love to be away for extended cruising periods. Ask for details and availability.

✓ Take advantage of the member pricing on food and beverages at the Clubhouse.

✓ Use the Bowen Island outstation year-round, receive moorage credit dependent on membership seniority at 10 marinas along the coast and take advantage of a big list of reciprocals.

✓ Significant savings on typical moorage rates in the Vancouver area once you’re assigned moorage.

✓ Use the Club for casual meetings and hang-outs at no charge.

✓ Receive member discounts if you want to rent the clubhouse for a private event.

✓ No charge for use of the Club kayaks and SUPs

NOTE: As with all yacht clubs in the Vancouver area, a wait list is established and is based on seniority and overall dimensions of the craft. Guaranteed promises of moorage cannot be made; rather reliance on history suggests that movement through the wait lists is possible. In all instances, a conversation about the wait list with the existing Rear Commodore Marina is advised, given that he/she is most familiar with current movement and opportunities.

Cruising membership is ideal for you. You have all the rights of every membership level except you do not accrue seniority towards moorage, and you are not eligible for full time moorage or subleases at the FCYC marina facility.

We have a very innovative approach to Outstations and the most active cruising calendar in the Lower Mainland, with weekend and longer-term cruising from the San Juans to Alaska and everywhere in between. Many cruises have a special theme that reflect member interests such as a pub crawl or hiking-focus. And if you want to learn more about boating, you’re in the right place to learn or get better at everything from anchoring and stern-tying to trip planning, weather forecasting, boat maintenance, and safety.

Since 1981, when a small group of passionate and committed boaters at a marina near the current Cambie Street Bridge) decided to form a Yacht Club that would become the Star of False Creek. The idea was for a new Club in the heart of the City offering an exciting social and recreational environment unique in the Downtown/False Creek core in addition to traditional boating activities. When that marina disappeared as part of the Expo 86 development, there’s a fascinating story about how the club overcame the odds and secured its current location. The Clubhouse opened in December 1989. Read the fascinating story and history here.
